2. Entry Requirements

No prior visa arrangements are required. A tourist visa of 30 days will be given to visitors with valid travel documents, on arrival. Visitors should be in possession of at least US $25 per day of stay in the Maldives. For those coming from yellow fever infected regions, an international certificate of inoculation is required.

3. Baggage Claim

On arrival, all international passengers pass through immigration and passport control, then onto the baggage reclaim area where luggage is fed onto a conveyor or carousel showing the number of each flight.

4. Baggage Security

Passengers are requested to attend to baggage at all times. Unattended baggage may be taken away for security reasons and cause departure delays.

All luggage should carry identification tags, complete with name and contact address on the outside. All baggage should be locked. Passengers should contact Information Counter for lost luggage.

5. Lost & Found Baggage Services

A Lost & Found Counter in the Security Office which is located in the Departure Lounge is manned round-the-clock.
Unattended baggage found in the airport terminal will be taken away for security reasons.
If there is an airline tag, the baggage will be reported to the airline concerned. If an address is attached, contact will be made. Claimants must produce proof of identity. However, passengers must contact the airlines concerned if belongings are left on the aircraft.

6. Tour Operators

To reach the tour groups, proceed to the tour operators just outside the arrival terminal.

7. Ferry Transfer

A 24 hours service of ferry dhoani and launch services are provided for transfers between Malé International airport, the main city Malé and to various resort islands. 65 percent of transport service depend on sea transport.
Sea plane operators are providing the service of picking up their respective passengers by Mini-buses.
Taxis are not available at the airport but the taxi service is available at the main city Malé.

8. Air Transport

Maldivian Air Taxi and Trans Maldivian Airways are the sea plane operators in the Maldives. They offer the most efficient and comfortable sea plane transfers from the airport to the prospective holiday destination.

9. Tourist Information Counter

International and Domestic passenger Arrival terminal has a counter set up for tourist information. General advice and tourist literature are available at the counter.

11. Security Checks

All hand baggage will pass through an X-ray machine which will not harm exposed or unexposed film. However, unexposed film should not be put in your cameras until after security checks.

12. Communicable Disease control

An international certificate of inoculation is required upon entry into Maldives for those coming from yellow fever infected regions.

13. Social Customs

Handshaking is the most common form of greeting with Arabic greetings "ASsalaam Alaikum" (peace be with you) used by Muslims all around the world and it is answered with "Wa'alaikum A'Salaam" (and peace be with you too). Dress is informal. Light cotton clothes are recommended. Nudity is strictly forbidden as the Maldives in an Islamic country. Swimsuits and beachwear are to be confined to resort islands. When visiting an inhabited island or the capital, shorts and T-shirts for men, and blouse or T-shirts with skirts or shorts that cover the thighs, made of non-diaphanous material, for women are a minimum requirement.
